Write-In U.S. Senate Candidate LaShondra Tinsley for the November 8th, 2022, General Election, was born in Cleveland, Ohio. LaShondra comes from humble beginnings as she was raised throughout Ohio in Ohio’s foster care system. Lorain, Elyria, Wooster, and Cincinnati, Ohio are a few of the cities LaShondra lived in throughout her years as a foster child.
Humble Begginings
As an adult, LaShondra Tinsley has had many struggles in life, as we all have. Serving several days in jail for driving without a license because she couldn’t afford to pay her car insurance due to being in an abusive relationship, an addiction to prescription pain medication after having wisdom teeth removed, and the survival of three domestic violence relationships are only a glimpse of the personal life struggles LaShondra has faced and overcome years ago.
LaShondra decided she would not be a victim of her circumstances and began taking control of her life when she learned that she could get through global thought leader Les Brown. Tinsley started a journey of personal development and post-secondary education.
After meeting with Impact Community Action board member Glynis Jackson, LaShondra was introduced to the national organization Dress for Success. Through Dress for Success organizational networking programs, she was introduced to E3 (Educate, Empower, Elevate), New Directions, and Godman Guild, which provided mentorship, professional clothing, resources, and a pathway to post-secondary education.
What's happening now
LaShondra is seeking a degree in Public Administration and Communication. She has also graduated from several intense political trainings, such as Lead Ohio, The Black Campaign School, and New Leadership Ohio, to name a few. Recently she passed her exam to obtain her financial advisor license. As you can see, LaShondra is tenacious, resilient and has decided to use the pain of her real-life experiences to help create better policy and legislation at the national level because who better to develop effective policy and legislation than a person with actual lived experience for whom the policy and legislation are being created for! Instead of continuing to complain, Tinsley decided to become the change she wanted to see.
